 Independent Equipment Company (IEC) is uniquely qualified to perform residual equipment valuations through its staff with a combined experience of over 100 years in the lease and finance industry.

Resident within IEC are individuals who have held senior equipment management positions with major leasing organizations, and who have substantial experience in small, mid, and large ticket leasing with an extremely broad range of equipment types.  In fact, IEC's President wrote the book on residual valuation (The Lessor's Guide to Equipment Management) which was published by the American Association of Equipment Lessors, now the Equipment Leasing Association of America (ELA).

Residual Services IEC offers include:

  • Residual Value Analysis – IEC understands that risk assumption profiles are an internal and proprietary consideration for each lessor.  IEC's analysis provides you with a basis for these risk assumptions by a determination of current and projected values within the context of the four major elements of value-equipment, customer, documentation, and market.

  • Equipment Value Matrices – IEC can develop a custom residual value matrix of future projected values in a format tailored to your needs.  These matrices can be updated semi-annually or annually to reflect the impact on value, if any, of changing technology, economics, and market conditions.  Equipment categories can be broad or specific, at the client's direction.

  • Brand or Product Line Analysis – IEC can provide thorough analysis of a full product line or category of equipment.  This analysis considers equipment pricing relative to the marketplace, unique brand or model characteristics, and market and technology trends.  Based on our experience and available trade data, IEC can also provide expected probabilities of lessee retention (stick rate) at various terms.

  • Lease Term and Conditions Consulting – IEC can provide advice on structuring lease terms and conditions designed to enhance value and optimize your risk position.  These structures include the optimal lease term, maintenance and return provisions, type of use, lessor’s rights to inspection, and end-of-lease options.
